It is legitimate and obligatory.
Every fasting person must pay it to validate their fast and to purify themselves from past sins and transgressions.
Moreover, Zakat al-Fitr is an aid, a support, an act of solidarity towards the most deprived, allowing them in turn to enjoy the joyful atmosphere of Eid al-Fitr.
Let us recall an important point: Zakat, whether it is Zakat al-mal or Zakat al-Fitr, is a duty of the wealthy towards the needy.
