Our goal for this journey from Nice to Saint-Fons was simple: to raise 5 000 € to give children with disabilities, accompanied by the association HEÏ, an unforgettable day by the sea or at an amusement park. A moment of happiness, freedom and escape for children who face daily challenges that many of us cannot even imagine.
Unfortunately, while we were crossing France by bike in crushing heat to carry this message of hope, we were dealt a blow. Saturday evening (30-05), Cotizup informed us that the platform would be put into maintenance and be inaccessible. At the moment when we needed visibility and mobilization most, donations were blocked on Sunday, then Monday and Tuesday until 21h.
The fundraiser was reopened on 02-06 at 21h and the amount collected at that time was 603 euros. Far from the goal set to fund this beautiful project.
I did not hide my disappointment at that moment. Because behind this fundraiser, there are children, families and extraordinary volunteers whom we met upon our arrival.
Their smiles, their courage and their emotion deeply touched us. They remind us why we rode so many kilometers, why we suffered on the road, despite the fatigue and the extreme conditions.
These children are far too often invisible to the world. Yet they deserve to live the same joys, the same memories and the same moments of happiness as any other child.
Today, I refuse to give up.
That is why I decided to get back on the bike from this Sunday, June 7 to cover 150 km, and I will do so every weekend until I reach the goal.
Because this adventure has never been about kilometers. It has always been about humanity.
So I am asking you one last time: share this message, talk about it with those around you, mobilize your circle. Every donation, even the smallest, brings us closer to this dream.
Because no child should be deprived of these moments of happiness.
