🕌 “Our mosque is going to disappear… Let’s help ACMOG build the house of Allah in Saint-Laurent”

🕋 Imagine: it is Friday. You arrive at the mosque… and it is empty.
Closed. Gone.
This is what could happen to our community at the end of 2026.
For 15 years, ACMOG (Cultural Association of the Muslims of Western French Guiana) has carried a dream: to offer the Saint-Laurent du Maroni community a true place of prayer, teaching and transmission.
This will be the city’s first mosque.
But today, that dream is in danger:
- For several years, the faithful have been packed into this dilapidated space in order to pray.
- The premises we rent will be reclaimed by the owner to be converted into a restaurant. Consequently, we are required to vacate the premises in December 2026.
The project: acquisition of a plot of land of 1,836 m2 for the construction of a mosque, a cultural center and a madrassa.
The Muslim community of Saint-Laurent du Maroni is flourishing.
To avoid a possible disappearance of our place of worship, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has granted us the opportunity to acquire a plot of land not far from the town center that would meet all our needs.
The project:
Objective: €300,000 to build the future
Purchase of the 1,836 m2 land + notary fees: €148,000
Construction work: €150,000
Total €298,000
- Project start: December 2026
- Estimated completion: December 2028 (duration: 24 months).
In the meantime we will rent a new temporary premises.
Each donation is a sadaqah jariyah that will accompany you into the Hereafter.
Allah َعَزَّ وجَلَّ, exalted is He, urges us to build mosques. This is confirmed by the Most High in His Word (meaning of the verse): “In houses [mosques] which Allah has permitted to be raised, and wherein His Name is mentioned” (Qur'an 24:36).
The Prophet ﷺ underscores the merits of contributing to the acquisition or construction of a mosque by this Hadith:
“Whoever builds a mosque purely for the pleasure of Allah, Exalted is He, will have a house built for him in Paradise” (Reported by Muslim, authentic hadith)
Thus, acquiring such a space to erect a mosque represents a noble charitable deed. Whoever initiates it, with the sole intention of pleasing their Lord, will be generously rewarded.
