This little female dog was picked up on the road by Gaël, who couldn't close his eyes to her distress. She couldn't walk, her hindquarters were immobilized. Naturally, Gaël thought she had been hit by a car. He secured her and contacted associations to try to help her.
I admit that at first I replied "no, sorry, I really can't anymore. I don't have the funds to cover the costs of an injured puppy" and I hoped another association might...
But...
So, what to do?
Gaël agreed to take the little pup to the Front de Mer for examination. It was on September 15. She is about 2 months old and weighs 2.9 kg.

And the verdict came: no fracture, it is not an accident, but a disease to be determined or a congenital condition and in that case the paralysis would be irreversible.
We have named the little pup Saphir, you can understand why by looking at her photo!

She was put on an electrolyte drip and given physiotherapy stimulation twice a day.
Every morning since September 15, I have been waiting for the vet's call with impatience and anxiety. Saphir had to be given a chance to live normally. Moreover the vet also said "she is very sweet, so cute, well balanced, not fearful"

But she had also warned me that if there was no improvement within 4 or 5 days, there would be "a decision to make"...

Today the vet told me "I'm happy! It's unexpected! I think it's going to be okay! She's making an effort, she's trying to walk, we're going to make it!"

Saphir is still hospitalized of course, and the bill will be significant. I don't have a quote yet.
