A little update from Tunisia ❤️
To everyone following my fundraiser, I just wanted to give you a little update and say thank you for still being here.
The rescues have unfortunately never stopped. In the past few weeks, I have continued rescuing abandoned kittens, sick and injured cats, and animals who had nowhere else to go.
Among them is Mariem, a pregnant cat I found crying for help late at night. She gave birth shortly after I brought her to the vet. I also recently brought Nejia home after more than two weeks at the veterinary clinic, where she had surgery to remove her severely infected eye and was spayed. She has permanently lost her sight, and she will most likely remain with me for life because adoption opportunities here are so limited.
I am still caring for more than 40 cats, as well as dogs, while continuing to work full-time. The veterinary bills, food, boarding and other expenses continue to accumulate, and unfortunately my fundraiser has been very quiet.
I know everyone has their own difficulties, and I never want anyone to feel pressured.
If you are able to help, even a small contribution would make a difference. And if you cannot donate, sharing the fundraiser with someone who might be able to help is also incredibly valuable.

Two More Tiny Lives Saved… But They Nearly Went Unnoticed

A few evenings ago, while driving to feed my rescued cats and dogs, I heard the desperate cries of a tiny kitten.
The sound made me stop. I turned the car around and went back.
There, beside a dangerous road, was a very young kitten crying and preparing to cross the street. The road was busy, and just a few meters away was a crowded café full of people. Many people could hear the kitten crying, yet no one had stopped to help.
I quickly got out of the car and picked up the little kitten before it could run into traffic. Thankfully, it did not hide or run away.
I searched the area, hoping to find its mother or other kittens, but there was no sign of them.
As I placed the kitten safely in my car, a young man came to my window and said, “Please take her sister too. She is on the other side.”
I was upset. I replied, “The street is full of people. You all hear them crying, yet nobody does anything. This is not normal.”
I immediately went to the other side and found the second kitten. She was crying just as desperately.
Even though it was already evening, the heat was overwhelming. The kittens were exhausted, hungry, thirsty, and completely alone.
They are now safe.
The most touching part came after we arrived home. My rescued dog, Sarah, and the young puppy I recently saved welcomed them with so much love.
Sarah immediately behaved as if she were their mother. She gently licked them, stayed close to them, and did not want to leave their side.
These are just two more lives that were saved by chance. If I had not passed by at that exact moment, they would most likely not have survived.
Every week brings new abandoned animals, new emergencies, and new mouths to feed. I simply cannot ignore them when they are crying for help.

Urgent Update: A New Life to Save — Nejia, the Saved One

On July 13 at 7:34 p.m., as I was leaving the veterinary clinic after taking care of two poisoned cats and picking up Dolly, the rescued Bichon, I saw a cat lying on the sidewalk with her head against a wall.
There was blood and feces all around her, from the road to the sidewalk. She was trembling, suffering, and unable to move. When I tried to gently pick her up and place her in a box, fear took over and she ran away. Despite her terrible condition, she still had the strength to escape. Thankfully, she did not go far. Exhausted, she stopped after a short distance, and I was finally able to catch her and bring her to safety.
The veterinarian was about to close the clinic and go home. I called her and told her: “I am not far from the clinic. I am bringing a cat who is dying.”
After examination, we discovered the extent of her injuries: her jaw was broken and she had lost her eyesight. She was in severe pain and needed immediate care.
I named her Nejia, which means “saved” in Arabic, because I hope this is the beginning of a new life for her.
We are also worried that Nejia may have been nursing kittens when this terrible accident happened. I sincerely hope this is not the case. The thought of abandoned kittens losing their mother is heartbreaking.
This is one of the tragic consequences of the lack of spaying. Too many stray female cats suffer, and too many kittens are born into unsafe conditions. As soon as Nejia is strong enough and her health allows it, she will, of course, be spayed.
Nejia will remain at the veterinary clinic for about one month to receive the treatment, monitoring, and care she urgently needs. Her recovery will be long, but she deserves a chance to live without pain.
