Zumba with the ladies :-)
Training last week included a 15k run, followed by 2x 5k and then 8k, together with a zumba class. This week I'm saving my energy and avoiding risk of injury before the big day !
Today was my first run in shorts and t-shirt, enjoying the spring sunshine (not my first run of the year!). So far this week I've run Sunday 5k, Monday 6k, yesterday 6.5k and 9.5k today.
It's going to be tough running 21k but if I focus on breaking it down into managable bits I should be ok. Wish me luck 🍀
Je souffre d'ostéochondromes multiples (MO) avec des bosses osseuses autour de mes genoux et mes chevilles. Enfant, je ne me sentais pas à l'aise pour faire du sport.
J'ai commencé à courir à la quarantaine et, comme tout débutant, j'ai trouvé les premiers kilomètres difficiles. Mais la satisfaction d'avoir terminé mon premier 5 km m'a encouragée à persévérer, et maintenant je cours régulièrement. J'ai parfois des douleurs aux jambes, mais je pense que tous les coureurs ressentent des douleurs d'une manière ou d'une autre !
Du 11 au 13 avril, je participerai à la réunion de l'Alliance européenne pour MO à Rimini, organisée par l'ACAR. Elle coïncide avec le marathon de Rimini, et je courrai donc le semi-marathon pour sensibiliser le public et collecter des fonds pour l'AMEM, l'association de la maladie des exostoses multiples. J'espère que vous me soutiendrez !
I have MO with bony lumps around my knees and ankles, and as a child, I felt uncomfortable doing sports. Swimming was the only sport I enjoyed, but I was very self-conscious of my unusual "lumps and bumps".
I started running in my 40s and like every beginner, found the first few kilometers hard going. But the satisfaction of completing my first 5k encoraged me to keep going, and now I run on a regular basis. Sometimes I have leg pains, but I think all runners experience pains of one sort or another!
From 11-13 April I will be attending the European MO Alliance meeting in Rimini hosted by ACAR. It coincides with the Rimini marathon, and so, I will be running the semi marathon to raise funds and awareness for AMEM, which is the French patients association. I hope you'll support me ❤️
