Today we are calling on your generosity to help Kamil, a 2½‑year‑old child with a mutation of the GPX4 gene.

This is an ultra‑rare disease; Kamil is the first case in France and he has defied all odds thanks to many interventions since he was 4 months old (physiotherapy, psychomotricity, speech therapy, intensive occupational therapy).

The parents are doing everything to help him gain as much autonomy as possible. He moves around on all fours but is not yet walking. His early years are the most important, so it’s a race against the clock ⌚️.

The family is interested in intensive therapies that have shown significant results, notably at Essentis in Barcelona, a world‑renowned centre that helped Kamil sit up. However, intensive therapies, like certain equipment, remain the responsibility of families.

Today I ask for your help to give Kamil every chance to progress and gain more autonomy during an intensive stay in Cairo, Egypt.

The Nour El Hayat centre is run by Dr Metwaly, a renowned physiotherapy specialist. His facility is widely recognised for caring for children, particularly for its intensive motor rehabilitation protocols aimed at children with cerebral palsy (Infirmité Motrice Cérébrale, IMC) or developmental delays. Egyptian expertise in this field typically combines several disciplines in sessions lasting several hours per day to maximise brain plasticity and children’s motor progress.

The centre offers a multidisciplinary approach including the MEDEK method (invented by the renowned Chilean Ramón Cuevas) and DMI exercises.

Dr Metwaly has trained several teams around the world, which is why the family chose this centre.

The program will last 3 weeks. Therapy will take place 6 days out of 7. Kamil will receive several hours of therapy per day, as in Spain, but this time with exercises even more specifically adapted.

For his family, this trip represents far more than a simple journey: it’s a chance, a hope, an important step in his path.

The stay will cost around 4000 euros, covering the therapy for 3 weeks, plane tickets for the parents and Kamil, and accommodation on site.
