Let's stop French weapons in Yemen!

**

https://aser-asso.org/ (ASER) is a human rights NGO currently engaged in a legal battle against the French government, co-responsible for war crimes in Yemen: more than 200,000 deaths including 85,000 children under 5 since March 2015.

Although France ratified the Arms Trade Treaty in 2014, it has already transferred nearly €3 billion worth of military equipment to the coalition countries led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which are responsible for serious human rights violations, war crimes and even crimes against humanity in Yemen.

That is why ASER seized the administrative court on 07 May 2018 to request the suspension of French arms sales to the coalition countries at war in Yemen.

On 25 June 2019, the judges rejected our request while considering themselves competent to rule on France’s arms exports. This is a first victory for ASER, but the judges nevertheless refused the direct application of the Treaty. This decision runs counter to Art. 55 of the French Constitution, according to which treaties have a value superior to national laws.

Thus, on 8 September 2019 ASER appealed the judgment before the Administrative Court of Appeal of Paris & the Court of Justice of the European Union.

The French government must answer before the courts for its violations and stop its arms sales to the coalition countries. We need you to help cover legal costs.
