Apartment “JAUZI” for the temporary reception of people experiencing homelessness.
Lack of resources has often forced us to carry out this reception work in precarious conditions. In view of the needs observed in Barakaldo over recent years, during which we have accompanied young migrants passing through the municipality, we decided to contribute one more grain of sand to reception efforts by renting an apartment on behalf of the association. We are therefore launching a reception apartment for 4 people per turno, managed in a participatory way by the association itself and volunteer individuals.
The project is based on the following principles:
- Prevention: Work preventively so that problems associated with the experience of migration do not arise or can be faced with sufficient tools
- Autonomy: Respect for the decision-making capacity regarding the life paths each person develops
- Participation: The project is sustained by the active participation of the people hosted as well as by the community itself
- Community intervention: We will rely on existing resources, normalized resources that allow us to deepen the social integration processes of the people hosted
- Coordination: We will coordinate periodically with the different community agents who also intervene in some way in certain areas of development for the people hosted
- Educational criteria: Daily life in the apartment and the accompaniment of each person will be based on educational criteria
Participation is the key element
The project we present makes full sense through participation and community intervention so that, in addition to addressing some of the needs of the people hosted, it also carries out transformative action and awareness-raising in the society where “Jauzi” is located. The project cannot be developed without the active participation of the community. The money raised will be used in full to cover the expenses resulting from the apartment: rent, electricity, water, gas, maintenance... etc.
We are convinced that, considering our past, our present and our future, together we can make our municipality a place of reception.
Whatever the amount, everyone can take part in this fund. It is not necessary to create an account or register, it is quick and payments are 100% secure. Possibility to contribute by credit card.
If you cannot participate financially, share this fundraiser as widely as possible around you. THANK YOU!
