WHO ARE WE ?
The association Normandie Dadès regularly organizes solidarity operations with the populations of several villages in the Moroccan Atlas (http://www.facebook.com/normandiedades).
Although the earthquake that severely struck Morocco fortunately did not impact the territories with which we usually work, it was important for the association's volunteers to mobilize to come to the aid of the disaster-affected populations.
Thus, after increasing contacts in Morocco to identify the geographic areas where we could intervene, then quantify the needs of the populations, we are now able to propose a reliable solidarity operation ensuring the delivery of aid to several villages affected by the earthquake.
OUR AREA OF ACTION
Several solidarity networks have been set up across the country with collection points allowing the consolidation of donations from inhabitants of unaffected areas to then send them to the disaster-affected populations.
Our association will focus on two sectors: the province of Taroudant (764 deaths) and the province of Ouarzazate (41 deaths). The latter is fairly seldom mentioned in the media but the material damage there is significant and many families have lost their homes.
Our contacts on site confirm that the urgent need is to provide blankets and mattresses for families who are sleeping outdoors and sometimes directly on the ground. Likewise, the purchase of foodstuffs and medicines to treat the injured is essential.
OUR OPERATING METHOD
We are not in a position to organize a collection of material to ship to Morocco. This requires logistics and authorizations that we do not currently have. Therefore, our action is organized around a collection of financial donations only ! The money will be used as follows:
We will regularly communicate on our Facebook page about the progress of our operation in Morocco!
