Dear friends of Averroès High School,

More than ever we need you.

As you surely know, our high school has been the target of scandalous media and political attacks for months. 473 students from seconde to terminale, around one hundred teachers and staff, hundreds of families and an entire educational community that has educated more than 20,000 children over twenty years in Lille in Hauts-de-France are threatened.

We have just learned with consternation and a deep sense of injustice that the administrative court has refused to urgently overturn the Prefect of the region's decision to terminate the contract of association that has bound us to the State since 2008, and has referred us to a full trial. We are very disappointed by this incomprehensible decision even though we have provided all the evidence of our good faith and our compliance with the contract of association with the State.

For we keep saying it: Averroès is a high school of excellence, fully in line with the values of the Republic, integrated into the French educational landscape and an added value for the public education service.

We are of course appealing to the Council of State, which will rule in the coming months.

We are in a situation of total hypocrisy: the State wants to cut our funding but not to prevent us from teaching.

That is why the Averroès association has decided to continue its educational project and, more than ever, to help Averroès grow. For our children! For the values we uphold! Because also, in a country like France, our children have the right to a school freely chosen in a faith-based institution that respects the laws of the Republic.

To save Averroès, more than ever we need you and your generosity!

Because the termination of the contract of association will lead to the withdrawal of State subsidies and to our having to cover teachers' salaries. We must at all costs make up for this shortfall.

Averroès High School therefore faces a real challenge today!

But we will not let them bring down the first and the best Muslim high school in France. They wanted to make it a symbol? Averroès will be the symbol of our right to a republican and Muslim education in France.

Education is everyone's business and excellence has a price. Let's save AVERROÈS.
