For a year, Balai en Lutte has been working on the creation of a photography exhibition co‑constructed with the cleaning staff. Around thirty members of the cleaning staff were photographed by a photographer from the Krasnyi collective. The selection of the photos and the drafting of the texts that will accompany them are carried out by staff members during the lunch break.
The objectives of this exhibition :
We wish, through this exhibition, to honour and make visible these cleaning workers, present every day but whom no one sees, whom no one looks at although they are indispensable to the university’s research and teaching missions.
We also wish to raise awareness across the entire university community about the conditions of this heavy and difficult daily work (marked by repetitive physical gestures, ever more intense work paces, solitude at work, regular contact with toxic products, abusive workplace checks, etc.), by making visible the reality of their tasks that allow everyone to move about in a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
Your support is essential to making this exhibition possible!
It allows us, among other things, to fund:
1- High-quality printing of the photographs ;
2- Frames and hanging systems ;
3- Exhibition rooms (including security and cleaning services) ;
4- Communication around the event ;
5- Drinks and food for the opening reception ;
6- Meals offered to the cleaning staff during the co‑creation sessions.
In return, we offer :
For a minimum donation of 10€ - A postcard
For a minimum donation of 50€ - A high-quality A4 photograph from the exhibition

Long live cleaning, long live the struggle !
Balai en lutte is a collective bringing together cleaning workers and their student and staff supporters at ULB. This collective aims to make the cleaning staff at ULB visible and to support them in order to obtain better working conditions. This includes better care for physical and psychological health problems related to cleaning work, access to all ULB services at the “staff” rate, an end to the oppressive mille‑feuille of controls and a reduction of work paces to a level compatible with the well‑being of cleaning workers at ULB.
