Since the night of Monday 11 October 2021 to Tuesday 12 October 2021, we learned with astonishment that the Abou Bakr Mosque located in the La Darnaise neighborhood, Boulevard Lénine 69200 Vénissieux, was the victim of a fire that destroyed the entire mosque.
It should be recalled that renovation work had been carried out about 6 months ago.
An investigation is currently being conducted by the competent (judicial) authorities to try to determine the origin of this grim discovery (criminal or accidental cause).
A bit of history; as you all know, the Abou Bakr Mosque (La Darnaise neighborhood) was the first place of worship (structure created in the 1980s) on the Minguettes plateau and which found its fulfilment within the neighborhood and, more generally, within the city of Vénissieux with its daily activities: daily prayers, Arabic language classes for children and adults, Friday prayers, etc.....
Now, thinking of the near future, by the grace of Allah, this place of worship will regain the splendor of past years and above all will contribute to the flourishing of the faithful.
Our mobilization today, in the first instance, focuses on the complete refurbishment of the prayer hall (painting, carpeting, etc....).
We know that by the grace of Allah, the community is very generous and cannot remain indifferent to this terrible event. But let us be optimistic and move forward to rebuild this structure because « He who builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him an equivalent in Paradise ».
For this purpose we are setting up a COTIZUP exclusively for fundraising in order to carry out the necessary work for the general refurbishment of the mosque.
