Baytouna was founded in 2014, born from a collective of associations. A women's association, conceived and made for them, we have strived daily to meet their needs, house them, help them, guide them toward reintegration, and simply love them.
Because more than an association, it is a true cry of love for those whom everyone abandons: those who, idle, no longer knew where to go, who were lost, confused... who no longer knew what to think and were tempted to fall into the abyss of despair, abandonment, withdrawal, and self-neglect. The street and its prospects are destructive, violent, brutal, dehumanizing...
So we steered our little pink boat and brought so many sisters safely to shore.... Wonderful encounters, mutual enrichment, fascinating journeys... Strong women, fighters, warriors, who decided that life would not defeat them and achieved victories: marriage, returning to work, housing. A new start on healthy, renewed foundations.
Are we going to have to stop?
One of the founding associations has been in the State's crosshairs, and because they went after it we have paid the price.
In December, PayPal, without any real reason and without warning, blocked our account. Despite follow-ups, calls, and registered letters, to this day we have no news and no access to the money that was in the account.
Helloassociation also closed our account; we are being suspected of diverting funds to the association targeted by the State. With no proof, just suspicion, they cut off our fundraising channels.
Our bank account, al hamdulillah, has not been touched because we are fortunate to have an excellent banker.
But for how long?
Money does not last forever. Our funds are running out; we must pay the rent. Added to that are the bills, the sisters' expenses, the house costs.... In total, we have around €2,500/month of unavoidable expenses.
Baytouna is necessary; we are the only Muslim organization in France welcoming women, but if our means of subsistence are cut off, how will we survive?
Thanks to your generosity, we survive only through your donations. The funds raised through this campaign will allow us to pay the upcoming rents as well as the charges for the next 4 months, while the situation improves.
