This fundraising does not accept donations anymore.
A fundraiser for Brieuc.
Warning: Belgian federal law is very clear about organ donation: it can never be monetized. It is therefore forbidden to raise funds to find a donor or to buy an organ.
Luckily, that's not what this is!
The law does, however, allow this kind of initiative to cover costs not covered by our social security.
This is the purpose of this fundraiser:
My son Brieuc, 19.5 years old, was selected by the medical board of the Saint-Luc clinics as a donor.
Indeed, suffering from cancer, my only viable option is a liver transplant from a living donor. It will take place on 09 October.
More info on this type of transplant https://www.international-saintluc.be/fr/la-greffe-hepatique-adulte-par-donneur-vivant.
Of his own accord, he applied. I was against the idea at first and little by little I accepted this strange parent–child reversal: it is my son who can save my life. It's quite unnatural in that sense, but after many discussions we are on board with this project.
So why a fundraiser?
Because Brieuc will miss most university classes in the first term. After a week of hospitalization — if all goes well — he will need 1 to 3 months to recover.
What will it be used for?
In order:
- Pay private tutors throughout the academic year to make up for missed classes and support him until August 2024.
- Pay medical expenses (and related needs) of Brieuc not covered by insurance.
- If funds remain, allow Brieuc to carry out his 20th birthday project: travel to northern Europe

Thanks in advance; I'm available to talk if needed.
