LATECOERE, an old Toulouse-based company and a pioneer in the aerospace sector, has for 20 years been subjected to relocation and layoff plans, takeovers by corrupt Anglo-Saxon funds, incessant changes in management, and numerous blows inflicted on employees, their wages and their working conditions.
To what result? Ruin! The company has long been mired in inextricable financial difficulties: colossal debt, an inability to free up financial room for manoeuvre, etc....
The latest dirty trick was announced by management on 25 January: these people have decided to relocate all positions at the Montredon plant to Mexico and the Czech Republic; 109 jobs, 109 families!!!
Yet this plant is brand new: it was launched in 2018! It was then presented as a masterpiece of modernity and technology and also as a way to relocate activity back to France! All of this with the support of public authorities and public funding.
Management now claims that this plant is too expensive, that its employees cost too much!!
After weeks of a simmering conflict, walkouts and gatherings, the employees decided to move to the next step: they have been on full strike for several days and have decided to remain so as long as management refuses to meet their demands.
