Since April 15, the seven Grandpuits fire shift leaders have been on a rolling strike to demand one shift leader position in order to have 8-hour shifts, 14 days of training, and an intervention team of at least 5 (today it is 4) for greater safety at the Grandpuits refinery.

While all sites in the refining-chemicals branch have at least 3 firefighters and 3 firefighter assistants, the Grandpuits team is made up of only one firefighter with 3 firefighter assistants.

The CGT has denounced this situation many times to Management. The shift leaders have made enormous efforts with their schedules and have received nothing but contempt from their sector chief.

After two meetings with Management, it still refuses to increase the pool to 8-hour shifts despite the strike and overtime exceeding 24 hours of work. Unacceptable to the CGT, dangerous for health and safety — nothing is acceptable.

This struggle concerns everyone: a sufficient number of well-trained firefighters to face the risks of a Seveso 2 plant is a necessity for all workers on the site as well as the surrounding residents.
