In March we took part in a humanitarian convoy to the Ukrainian border in Poland. We were able to deliver about 100 tonnes of supplies (mainly medical) directly to hospitals and orphanages in Ukraine and brought back 60 refugees.
We personally repatriated a couple who were bombed near Kyiv, the woman having walked for 3 weeks with a broken ankle, along with their 3 dogs, 2 of them very large, which no one wanted to take in, and we accompanied them all the way: residence permits, veterinary papers, clothing, a permanent host family in France, etc. We are very happy to have succeeded in this first mission.
We decided to leave again in May for a mission focused on rescuing refugees' companion animals, in collaboration with an animal protection association.
Our van will be filled with food, veterinary products, cages, beds, blankets, collars, leashes, bowls...
We will likely be accompanied by another van full of medical supplies whose purpose on the return leg will be to bring back a few refugees wishing to come to France.
For a month and a half, with our contacts on the ground, we will go to various small border posts lacking volunteers and deliver our supplies directly into Ukraine to shelters or associations that help stray animals.
On the return we will bring back 5 animals (legal maximum allowed) which will already be reserved by host families.
We need your help to fund the travel expenses, and any surplus from this fundraiser will allow us to buy dry food/wet food locally to send to shelters in Ukraine and to give to refugees crossing the border with their animals.
