Ismya is a 15-year-old Mauritanian teenager, smiling, a good student and full of joy for life. A smiling girl full of dreams, Ismya enjoys taking care of her brothers and sisters, playing with them and helping her parents every day. But behind her smile hides a reality that shatters all her hopes for a normal life. A tragedy that turns every ordinary effort into a real struggle. A disease that Ismya has been fighting day after day for several months now.
Indeed, doctors have detected a serious cardiovascular disease in Ismya, for which only major open-heart surgery would put an end to it. Ismya suffers from what is called a valvular disease, that is, a condition that prevents the valves of her heart from functioning properly. This is a serious pathology for which an operation, often requiring temporary cardiac arrest for the duration of the surgery, must be performed by a specialized team. Two valves must be operated on urgently and Ismya's days are numbered: cardiologists estimate that if nothing is done within 3 months, her chances of survival will decrease rapidly, week after week.
Ismya lives with her family in a very remote area of Mauritania, nearly 230 km from Nouakchott. Her family lives in a small hut, illustrating the extremely precarious living conditions in a region marked by poverty. This sad news has become a new ordeal for her parents, who, as poor workers, do not have the funds necessary for their daughter's care.
But all is not lost: Ismya, who still has her whole life ahead of her, can survive thanks to you. The situation is urgent and critical, but this operation is the only chance she has left to survive. A surgical procedure is already scheduled for September 13, on the sole condition that it is quickly funded before that date. The total cost of the operation and the major hospitalization awaiting Ismya amounts to 15,000 euros, the price of life!
We therefore appeal to you to give Ismya this hope of life. Thanks to our mobilization and to each of your donations, Ismya will soon be able to resume a normal life like all teenagers her age!
Of course, all invoices and medical documents will be made available to you to guarantee full transparency regarding the progress of this fundraiser and the evolution of Ismya's health. Association Santé et Partage will be the trusted third party, present on site with the family, which will enable the collection of donations to be transmitted for Ismya's treatment.
