!! JOB CUTS AT APS34 DESPITE PROMISES FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HÉRAULT !!
- End of February 2025, we learned with astonishment of an upcoming budget cut of -25%, from our main funder, the Department of Hérault.
- March 25, 2025, during a national day of mobilization of Child Protection actors, Veronique Calueba, Vice President of the Department of Hérault, assured us that:
“The budget will be maintained, no positions will be cut, no layoffs.”
- This Tuesday, June 10, the Department sent a letter to our management announcing layoffs of +35% of the association's workforce. We were lied to. We were betrayed. 35% of the staff... It's even worse than three months ago. We are already understaffed and overstretched.
In reality, it is Specialized Prevention as a whole that is threatened. Budgets are melting before our eyes everywhere across the country. Entire services are disappearing. Politicians have made choices. It will not be the choice of social policy, nor the choice of child protection. We firmly denounce and condemn these choices. And we categorically refuse to be sacrificed, on the same grounds as young people and residents of working-class neighborhoods, on the altar of remilitarization. We are already too few, with considerable workloads, with wages that are too low and the resources allocated to us, ridiculous.
We urge the Department of Hérault to honor its promises. Our professions are essential, let's preserve them.
As a result, we are launching a strike movement to build a mobilization aimed at preventing the upcoming layoffs and the disappearance of specialized prevention. But a strike costs money—that is why we are appealing to your solidarity. Give us the means to fight.
