We would like to thank you for the commitment you have shown to the cause of this noble project throughout the year. Thanks to you, we were able to raise the funds necessary to commence the works (demolition in progress), and the company responsible for the structural work is scheduled to start mid-May. If you wish, photos of the start of the works from 20/03/2021 are available on our website as well as on our Facebook account (link at the bottom of the page).

To date, however, we are short approximately €30,000 to guarantee the building is watertight and weatherproof. That is why we are asking for your support in this blessed month. We need you to accompany us until the end of the works and help bring this beautiful project to fruition, Insha'Allah.

We are now entering a second phase of the works, and your participation is very important — do not neglect it!


Below are the main outlines of our project...

The Muslim community of the Hautes-Pyrénées (65) needs you. The EL HIJRA Mosque in Tarbes is launching a rehabilitation and expansion project.

Our place of worship is a former warehouse purchased in the 1990s by earlier generations. The aim at the time was to provide the Muslim population with a prayer hall. Over the years, the building has undergone multiple renovations (painting, change of carpets...) but has not adapted to the growing number of Muslims.
Today, the prayer hall can no longer decently accommodate all the Muslim faithful. Moreover, in order to educate future generations, it is necessary to provide them with suitable educational conditions: classrooms.


Project objectives in a few words:

Expansion of the men's and women's prayer halls

Creation of classrooms

Creation of ablution rooms for men and women

Bringing the building into general compliance...



During the execution of the project, the prayer hall must remain accessible so that the faithful can perform their prayers. Based on the various estimates carried out, EL HIJRA Mosque needs €400,000. To date, we have raised €215,000 (including €60,000 made available by the association).

So, dear brothers and sisters, you have the opportunity to take part in a SADAQA JARIYA (continuous charity).

In this blessed month the gates of Paradise are open... so now it's up to you!

_ According to Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) said _: “There are seven things for which the reward reaches the servant in his grave after his death: one who taught a science, dug the bed of a river, dug a well, planted a palm tree, built a mosque, left a mushaf (Qur'an) as an inheritance or left a pious child who asks forgiveness for him after his death.”

Project progress:

- The building permit application was submitted to the Town Hall on 12/11/19. After ensuring that the project meets safety requirements and urban planning rules, the Town Hall and all independent organizations responded favorably to our project. The building permit for the El Hijra Mosque in Tarbes was officially granted on 18/02/2020.

- Start of works on 20/03/2021 (we refer those who wish to the link on our site to see photos of the start of the works)

- By mid-May, the company in charge of the structural work will begin its works for the reconstruction of the mosque, Insha'Allah.
