🔥 Algeria on red alert due to wildfires
Since Tuesday, Algeria has been on red alert: devastating forest fires are affecting several localities in the north of the country. Favored by extreme heat reaching 49°C and strong winds, many fire outbreaks remain difficult to control and are dangerously approaching homes.
📊 131 forest fires recorded in a single day, across 24 wilayas
🔥 The most violent in Seraïdi (Annaba), where the fire came close to the hospital
🏥 Preventive evacuations of residents and patients
💔 New fires struck Jijel on August 26 — our thoughts are with the bereaved families and with those mobilized on the ground
