UPDATE: CAMPAIGN UPDATE FOR RAMADAN 2023
بِسْمِ اللّٰه
'Asalāmu ʿalaykum wa rahmatuLlah.
We are asking for your help because our mosque is IN DEBT. This fundraiser was created because we noticed that the community is very responsive on social networks to act for good ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّٰهِ, and so we would like to call on you, إن شاء الله, to free the House of Allah from this debt that has burdened our mosque for several years. Last year, we managed to raise a large sum of money from the faithful; we are not far from our goal by the grace of Allah.
This fundraiser aims to advance the collection and provide assistance to finish repaying this debt.
To give some context, our mosque began to be built in December 2010 on a large plot granted by the Cergy town hall following a promised financing from foreign investors, with the town hall acting as the guarantor of the transaction and supporting the project.
Due to certain problems between the different parties, the promise was not kept and the mosque found itself in debt of 1.5 million euros, which forced us to take out a bank loan. The town hall was able to cover part of the costs, but we regularly ask the brothers and sisters who come to pray to give in order to repay the remaining part of the debt.
During the month of Ramadan 2022, we were able, ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّٰهِ, to raise 100 000euros in 20 days by the grace of Allah through donation appeals and the efforts of our sheikhs, may Allah reward them. We therefore decided to take advantage of this month of Ramadan 2023 to ask the ummah for help, which would allow us to continue toward our objective. We are very close to the goal, and we place our complete trust in Allah.
_“[…] Whoever places his trust in Allah, Allah is sufficient for him.”_ (Quran 65/3)
We swear by Allah, the Almighty who holds our souls in His hands, that the entirety of the fundraiser (excluding the fees taken by Cotizup during the transfer) will be given to the FMC de Cergy for the purpose of repaying this debt. We fear our Lord and absolutely want to be rid of this debt that has burdened us for several years.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “The charity you give does not decrease your possessions. Allah only increases the servant who is generous in esteem. No one humbles himself for Allah without Him raising him.” [Muslim, riyad as-salihin n°556]
