On December 4th, 2021, I found Chase roaming the streets of Zamalek. He looked like a zombie: skin and bones, nearly bald, with scabs all over his skin. It was evident that he suffered from mange - he was scared and in pain. He would not stop walking, crossing the streets, and even the bridge into Garden City. The rare times he stopped and sat, he would shake. After two hours and the help of strangers, friends, and two vets, we got him to the clinic. After two weeks of medical boarding at the clinic and daily treatment, he was moved to a boarding facility with more space and comfort.
Chase was treated for mange, blood parasites, and anemia. Since his rescue, 19,530 egp (964 euros) were spent for Chase as of March 21st, 2022 (7,650 egp (378 euros) on medical care; 9,500 egp (469 euros) on boarding and transportation; and 2,380 egp (117 euros) on food).
Donations received from now will cover: boarding for the next month; Chase's check up at the vet's to know if he is stable enough to undergo surgery for neutering; and Chase's neuter.
After his neuter, our hope is to find him a forever home. As he is old, and finding adopters for baladi (local) dogs in Egypt is nearly impossible, we would like to send him to Canada for adoption, if the funds allow it.

Chase's incredible transformation - and it's not over yet!
Thank you all for your valuable support in funding Chase's medical care.
Since his rescue in December, 19,530 egp (964 euros) were spent for Chase's care:
- 7,650 egp (378 euros) on medical care (including treatment for mange, for blood parasites, for anemia, 2 blood tests, and the rabies vaccine)
- 9,500 egp (469 euros) on boarding and transportation
- 2,380 egp (117 euros) on food
Donations received from now will cover: the remaining amount needed to cover previous boarding and medical care; boarding for the next month (3000 egp until April 18th); Chase's check up at the vet's to know if he is stable enough to undergo surgery for neutering; and Chase's neuter.
After his neuter, our hope is to find him a forever home. As he is old, and finding adopters for baladi (local) dogs in Egypt is nearly impossible, we would like to send him to Canada for adoption, if the funds allow it.

We have moved Chase to a boarding facility (not a clinic) with more space, for him to recover in a more comfortable environment with daily care. His blood work has revealed the presence of blood parasites. The blood parasites may be why his immune system is weak, he is not gaining weight (he weighs 17kg), and he is so affected by the mange. Therefore, we need to treat this (2-4 weeks) before we can continue treating the mange.
After examining the few teeth he has left, the vets think he is over 10 years old.

Chase has been eating well and responding to treatment. He is still very weak and tired, and officially hates showers! He has been treated for worms, fleas, and ticks (which will also help with his mange), received a fungal treatment, and been vaccinated against rabies.
