From May 14 to 22, 2026, 22 students from Collège Alexandre Isaac in Les Abymes, Guadeloupe will have the chance to take part in an educational trip to Miami, Florida.
This project, titled « Por el mar del Caribe / By the Caribbean Sea », aims to offer students a unique linguistic and cultural immersion, at the crossroads of Caribbean, Spanish-speaking and North American cultures.
For some students, this will be their first international trip. An experience that can truly broaden horizons, boost self-confidence and spark a love of languages and discovery.
🎓 An ambitious educational project
This stay will allow students to:
practice English and Spanish in real-life situations,
discover the lifestyle of young people in Miami and compare it with that of students from Guadeloupe,
develop their cultural openness and critical thinking,
better understand the cultural ties between the Caribbean and North America.
Students will also have the opportunity to present Guadeloupean culture during exchanges with host families and the young people they meet.
🏡 A true immersion
During the stay, students will be housed with host families, which will allow them to experience an authentic linguistic and cultural immersion.
They will also take English classes at a local school, encouraging exchanges and daily language practice.
📍 A program rich in discoveries
During the stay, students will discover several emblematic places in Miami and Florida:
🇨🇺 Little Havana, the heart of Cuban culture in Miami
🚤 A boat excursion in Miami Bay from Bayside, to discover the city from the sea.
🏛️ The Pérez Art Museum Miami, an internationally renowned contemporary art museum.
🌴 The Art Deco district of Miami Beach, a symbol of the city’s architectural identity.
🐊 The Everglades, a unique natural park in the world and a true ecological treasure.
🛍️ Dolphin Mall, to discover American culture and daily life.
