This fundraising does not accept donations anymore.
We, Sabry's European friends, are launching this fundraiser to help them, him and his wife Rayan, return to France as soon as possible.
Sabry is Eritrean, he has French refugee status, he has been living and working in Annecy for a few years, and he is a prominent member of the Frangy football team, the village where he arrived when he first came to France. For that reason many people in Haute‑Savoie care about him and want to see him again as soon as possible.
In April he travelled to Sudan, where he grew up, to marry Rayan, a Sudanese woman. He was in the process of completing all the administrative steps to have their marriage recognized in France and to bring Rayan with him when the war broke out and trapped them in Khartoum.
They found themselves trapped, with no possibility of fleeing Sudan, the airlifts having been cut.
Rayan was pregnant; she was shot in the arm at the beginning of the conflict. The violence was such that they could not access medical care in Khartoum and she unfortunately lost the baby after about forty days.
They eventually managed to flee Khartoum and have been in Port Sudan, facing Saudi Arabia, for a few days. They are safer there: the city is spared by the war, there are still hospitals, food and water. For administrative reasons, bringing them to France may take time, even for him, who nevertheless has a French passport.
We are launching this fundraiser to help cover their immediate expenses as well as any possible repatriation costs:
- transport (a Djeddah–Lyon ticket can cost between 200€ and 300€ as an example)
- possible visas (Saudi transit visas are free for them but they may have to pass through another country)
- accommodation
- medical expenses
- phone costs
- food
If there is any money left after their return, it will be donated in full to humanitarian aid for Sudan.
Since the start of the crisis, a wonderful chain of support has formed around them; help us make it stronger and get them out of there.
Any contribution, even small, will be welcome.
According to our statistics, a single share raises an average of 30 euros.
