Hello everyone, **



We are asking for your help for a humanitarian project in Madagascar, more precisely in the village of Anjanojano, located in the northwest of the island.

We are scheduled (if all goes well) to fly out on June 21, 2021, and will return 3 weeks later, having accomplished many great things, on July 13, 2021.



First of all, let us give you a brief presentation of who we are and of our project!

Our group is made up of 12 volunteers, each more motivated than the next. We are sensitive to inequalities and to the education of disadvantaged children.

Students at the École des Hautes Études Internationales et Politiques (HEIP, located in Paris in the 15th arrondissement), we are members of the student humanitarian association HUMA HEIP. Within this framework, we are preparing a humanitarian mission in partnership with the association DOCENDA, present in Anjanojano since 2012. Our project is divided into several missions and objectives

⇒ Academic support and recreational activities will be one of the priorities once on site, for primary and middle school students!

Our goal is to help children better understand their lessons, help them progress and contribute to offering them a better future (in collaboration with the Malagasy teaching staff of Anjanojano primary school and middle school).

The team will try to provide daily support in French, history, mathematics and science each morning. Afternoons will be dedicated to creative activities, animation, sports, etc.

We will also be in charge of the preschool classes, where the watchwords will be creativity and animation. For example, repainting the classrooms, redecorating them… which will entertain and amaze the little ones, while also pleasing the older ones.



We are neither teachers nor instructors, therefore our aim is to support the team and bring a playful aspect to the children’s learning in the village. In addition, to introduce them to artistic, cultural and sporting areas that are new and different from what they know. We will not impose ourselves but will respect their educational system and contribute to it.



Our second field of action concerns development and construction. The primary goal will be to clear a vacant lot into a playground for the middle school, which can also serve as a football or pétanque ground: you may not know it, but Malagasy people are world champions of pétanque!

Given the wide age range, we aim to help as many children as possible and that is why we will also install outdoor play equipment for the youngest.



In addition, we will try to rehabilitate the school and middle school fences and barriers (already installed) and to install others of better quality.


 

To do this, collections of school and sports equipment will be organized on our campus to support the animation and academic support part: stationery (notebooks, pens, markers, pencils…), toys for imagination and development of the youngest, materials to create games and educational activities for older children, but also balls, skipping ropes, rackets, nets, etc.


While collections will be a great help, we will need funds and therefore your support…

We will need to finance the all-risk insurance for each volunteer, local transportation to buy our food (one round trip by boat each time), the construction materials (shovels, picks, boards, nails, wood, hammers, drills, etc.), and hygiene and sanitary supplies (especially for COVID-19).

Finally, these funds will allow us to replenish the medicine supplies of the Anjanojano dispensary. Indeed, due to the health crisis, no volunteer has been able to travel there for almost a year and contribute to restocking. Certainly, Madagascar is not heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, but it must not be forgotten that other equally serious diseases persist there, and without the necessary medicines they cannot be treated.



Vaccines and plane tickets are the responsibility of the volunteers!
