Support Inond’Action: together to obtain concrete solutions in the face of flooding
The villages of Saint-Martin and Balâtre have paid a heavy toll to flooding. In 2021, and again in 2026, episodes described as 'exceptional' struck our villages. Yet, when such a scenario repeats itself within a few years, can we still truly call it exceptional?
During the latest floods, nearly 1 500 homes were affected, a considerable number for our small villages. In some houses, water rose to three metres in height, upending lives, destroying property and memories, and leaving many families in deep distress.
Faced with this reality, we refuse to accept these disasters as inevitable. That is why citizens of Saint-Martin and Balâtre have joined together to create Inond'Action, with a clear objective: to make residents' voices heard and obtain concrete, durable and effective measures from the competent authorities so that our villages do not experience such tragedies again.
This fundraiser aims to finance the legal support necessary to help us in our procedures with the municipality, the SPW and the Walloon Mediator.
The first step is to hire a lawyer to :
- to analyze the file as a whole ;
- to study the available technical and administrative elements ;
- to draft solid and well-argued official letters ;
- to engage with the various stakeholders in order to obtain responses and concrete commitments.
This first phase represents an estimated budget of 1 500 euros.
But we know that mobilization may need to go further. That is why we are getting a head start for the next steps and set a target of 10 000 euros, in order to be able to pursue the procedures if necessary.
Every contribution, whatever its size, will enable Inond’Action to continue defending the collective interest and to give citizens the means to act.
We commit to total transparency: if the procedure should stop (for example because concrete solutions are found with the various stakeholders, because the project runs out of steam, or because the available funds are no longer needed), the remaining balance will be donated to an association working in the fight against floods or in environmental protection or working for the village.
Today, we need you to transform a shared concern into collective action.

PS: This action is initiated in Saint-Martin-Balâtre, but it is intended to expand and can be joined by other villages of the municipality or neighboring communes.
