My son Skander was born in Tunisia in the midst of revolutionary chaos. Fourteen years later, I am still fighting to have his existence recognized in Belgium. His mother is not present, and his grandmother, very ill, can no longer take care of him. Today, I need you to complete the final administrative and legal steps.
This is the story of a child born in a country on fire, and of a father who refuses to let chaos write his future in his place.
Since 2011, between exile, illness and separation, I have been fighting for my son Skander to finally be recognized by the Belgian authorities.
But the procedures are burdensome: translations, apostilles, official filings, plane tickets, insurance, lawyers’ fees. The cost has become unbearable.
And today, the urgency is total:
– His mother is no longer present in Tunisia.
– His grandmother, who has cared for him all these years, is very ill and can no longer look after him.
– I am alone in carrying this fight, and I must register his future without delay.
Every contribution will be used directly for:
- Residence tax
– Getting the documents apostilled by the Tunisian ministry
– Fully translating the dossier
– Covering the mandatory travel insurance for the procedures
– Paying lawyers’ fees in Belgium and in Tunisia
– Submitting the papers to the town hall in Belgium
– Obtaining Skander’s passport from the embassy
– Funding the plane tickets.
Finally,
I do not have the luxury of pride. I must secure Skander’s future, not my silence.
This struggle is not only personal. It speaks to something larger: the dignity that no silence should erase, the justice that no border should smother.
Help me secure my son’s future.
For Skander. For justice. For recognition.
