A TAXI for MUSA and his family

HISTORY
In 2015 I was able to work in THE GAMBIA at JULBREW, a brewery of the Castel group located in Banjul,
the capital of THE GAMBIA.
Musa CEESAY was the handyman for the brewery's technical director. He was therefore my driver during the 15 days I stayed on site.
Musa very quickly understood that I was not “wired” like the white people he met. From there we wove an almost familial bond, discussing the problems of THE GAMBIA, the difficulties of this very poor country (ranked 13th among the poorest countries) and many other topics.
I was able to visit his parents in Bussumbala, a suburb of Banjul, and attend a superb cultural and musical event in the native village of the former president of The Gambia. A beautiful experience.
When leaving, I told him I would do my best to help him; not being a wealthy man, I would do what I could.

WHAT HAS BEEN DONE
With Musa I understood the exploitation of people across Africa, because indeed Musa worked a lot but never had the money that matched his work.
I did my best to help.
The first concrete result of my help was bringing running water to his parents' home and to where he was living at the time.
MUSA told me that his mother danced in front of the water flowing in the house while thanking me and praying.

DEVELOPMENT AND THE ARRIVAL OF LITTLE JEAN-MICHEL
A normal progression of life: Musa met Fatoumata and decided to get married in 2017; I helped with the purchase of sheep for the ceremony.
2018 saw the arrival of their child, and as sometimes happens in Africa, one gives the name of a person who matters, and I had the great honour that they named their son Jean-Michel.
And so the little bundle of joy arrived

2022, new campaign to obtain a taxi
COVID and the difficulties it caused spare no one.
Prices of basic goods have risen sharply in THE GAMBIA.
When I spoke with MUSA about school and the future of little Jean-Michel, Musa told me again that a taxi could be a solution for his independence; he thanked me for helping him, but he cannot rely on me alone. I told him that I agreed that independence was very important for him, the child, and their future.
So I am relaunching the campaign, and I need you.
To reach the sum of 3000 euros, which is the amount necessary to obtain a good used taxi, I decided to contribute 1500 euros and to appeal for the remainder in order to be able to buy this taxi.
Little Jean-Michel will be 4 years old in June 2022.
