SOS FOR AMIRA

Thank you for your solidarity

Edit on 14.12.2020 Amira was transferred thanks to your solidarity. She has begun tube feeding to prepare her for a living-donor liver transplant, which remains Amira's only therapeutic option to live.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SOLIDARITY

EDIT ON 05/12/2020 Amira will be transferred to Atakent Acibadem, Istanbul on 09/12/2020.

Her mother is launching an appeal for help — please do not ignore it.

This is a mother fighting for her child's survival!!
Amira is only 9 months old and has already suffered her whole life!!

Let's act together to save Amira!!
Amira needs help for a liver transplant

Amira, 9 months old, originally from and living in Oran in Algeria, urgently needs a living-donor liver transplant.

Her condition is precarious and requires immediate care.

Amira suffers from pruritus or uncontrollable itching

She was born with a symptomatic hepatobiliary malformation called biliary atresia (AVB).

Biliary atresia (AVB) is a liver disease of unknown cause. It leads to irreversible obstruction of the bile ducts, the channels that allow bile to flow from the liver to the intestine.

AVB affects one newborn in 20,000. It is not a hereditary disease.

The usual symptoms of AVB are jaundice (yellowing of the eyes and skin) associated with dark urine (dark tea color) and pale-colored stools (white, beige, or pale yellow).

It is a medical-surgical emergency. The prognosis depends on the promptness of the surgical intervention.

If the condition persists too long, the bile ducts become infected (cholangitis) and the liver, subjected to continuous reflux, becomes exhausted and cirrhosis develops, destroying the liver. This leads to fatal biliary cirrhosis.

Other complications occur: cardiopulmonary complications, glycemic problems (the liver stores glucose as glycogen), etc. — the list is long, the liver being a factory...

Do not underestimate a donation, even one euro, nor a share. Every gesture counts.

Amira suffers from severe malnutrition and other devastating consequences of her condition.

Thank you to all who will show compassion through their prayers, donations and shares.

Here is the quote from the Acibadem group located in Istanbul, Turkey. If we raise the funds, Amira will be cared for by Professor Ramzi in the transplant department:

After the transplant, Amira will receive lifelong immunosuppressive treatment that will allow the new liver to be accepted by her body, God willing.

Her congenital disease remains fatal if not treated in time.

You can also make a donation via the association's bank account by adding the patient's name in the payment reference when making the transfer:

In the event of death, the collected funds will be given to another patient.
