This fundraising does not accept donations anymore.
Akram is a small* *infant aged 3 months who lives with his family in Oran, Algeria. This little heart is suffering from biliary atresia which urgently requires a liver transplant.
Akram is at the cirrhosis stage; he is a candidate for a living-donor liver transplant without delay. His mother will be his donor.
Do not underestimate a donation, even of one euro, or a share. Every gesture counts! As a reminder, the association has helped fund the care of more than a hundred families abroad, the majority of whom underwent liver transplants and bone marrow transplants.
As you can see in the photos, Akram is showing yellowing of the whites of his eyes, which indicates an excessive accumulation of bilirubin in the blood. This yellow pigment produced during the destruction of red blood cells is partly recycled by the liver, which uses it to produce bile, a digestive fluid stored in the gallbladder.
An accumulation of bile can then form in the liver and damage it. If bile flow cannot be established, liver function is gradually lost, and children with the disease rarely survive beyond the age of two.
If we raise the funds, Akram will be transferred to Turkey to receive a liver transplant.
We thank all the hearts who will respond to this noble act of solidarity.
