For those who do not yet know us, the association L'îlot Calins aims to support children deprived of care due to lack of financial means and lack of coverage by their country of nationality, prioritizing the most needy, those affected by serious illnesses with life-threatening prognoses.

We have contacted several teams on site in Turkey and in Algeria to arrange the transfer of little Noorhan. Despite this, we are facing difficulties and an abnormally long visa processing time.

We hesitated for a long time before deciding to launch a fundraising campaign to finance an urgent liver transplant for Noorhan, whose condition is particularly advanced.


Her mother contacts us every day and we therefore decided to attempt this humanitarian challenge. Yes, a challenge, because unfortunately raising funds can be particularly slow and may be too slow for this little girl in distress.



This concerns the infant Noorhan Touni residing in Algiers, admitted for management of biliary atresia (AVB) on November 3, 2019.



Personal and physiological history unremarkable. Vaccinations up to date; vitamin K received. The onset of symptoms dates back to the neonatal period: persistent cutaneous/mucosal jaundice, dark urine, pale stools prompting outpatient consultation. Radiological and laboratory workup concluded AVB. Referred for surgical management.



Liver with chronic hepatopathy + signs of portal hypertension due to intrahepatic block in ascitic decompensation.



Noorhan suffers from advanced malnutrition. The liver no longer assimilates lipids (fats).



As shown, Noorhan has hepatomegaly and a large amount of ascites.

On that occasion more than one and a half liters of ascitic fluid were drained.



Bilateral hypotonia of the intrarenal cavities without dilatation of the lower ureters nor parenchymal impact to date. Small left inguinal fluid-filled hernia.



Her mother does not have the funds to pay for her daughter's care, which is why we are appealing to your solidarity.



Noorhan undergoes fluid drainages but the care is not sufficient.



We hope many people will participate in this fundraiser so that funds can be raised quickly.

The ascites recurs increasingly frequently and compresses Noorhan's chest, causing respiratory distress.



Noourha, 1.5 years old, despite her precarious condition, is not hospitalized, which would be inconceivable in a country like France that recognizes relief of pain as a fundamental right of every person.


The fight against pain is also a public health priority enshrined in the 2004 public health law.



Noorhan underwent surgical treatment for biliary atresia on 03.11.2019. The Kasai procedure is the hepato-porto-enterostomy, which can be replaced by hepato-porto-cholecystostomy when the accessory bile duct is still patent.



As a reminder, the association has helped finance care for more than a hundred families abroad, the majority involving liver transplants and bone marrow transplants.

Do not underestimate a donation of even one euro, or a share. Every gesture counts.

If we raise the funds, Noorhan will be transferred to Turkey and cared for in the transplant unit of Professor Remzi Emiroglu.
