🆘 The children of Fatima El Alami, 52, living in Casa in Morocco, have issued a call for help to save their mother from certain death. Their mother is in the end stage of decompensated hepatic cirrhosis with signs of portal hypertension (HTP) of undetermined etiology, complicated by terminal liver failure with TP at 25%. She also has one side of her lung that is almost completely closed off by pleural fluid and atelectasis. Kidney function tests are also altered, which likely indicates a hepato-renal syndrome. Her only chance of survival is a liver transplant for which one of her sons will be the donor. Unfortunately, living-donor liver transplants are not performed in Morocco and Fatima will have to travel to Turkey to Atakent Hospital in Istanbul. We have obtained a medical estimate amounting to 55 000€ (hotel included), to which the association's operating costs and an extra amount in case of post-transplant complications are added. If the beneficiary does not encounter any medical issues, this sum will be reallocated for the care of another beneficiary chosen by the association.
