Indefinite strike at Geodis Gennevilliers
Since Monday 17 October, the workers at the Geodis logistics platform in Gennevilliers have been on an indefinite strike. Widely attended, the mobilization brings together more than 80 workers (out of 112 in total) and was joined by half of the supervisory staff, representing a participation rate of around 75%. The warehouse is therefore at a standstill and parcels are piling up on the docks. We need your support to keep this going!
Geodis is one of the leaders in logistics in France and the Gennevilliers platform is a strategic point for supplying the ĂŽle-de-France region. Like other large logistics groups, Geodis posted record profits after the health crisis. For 2021, turnover reached 10.9 billion (+30%). Profits also hit a historic high of 948 million (+35%).
Inside the warehouse, handlers' wages are capped near the SMIC. We are so badly paid that the company had to put in place a standard form to handle all advance payment requests! The release of the pay slips of the group's top executives has further fueled the anger: they received annual performance bonuses ranging from 180,000 to 320,000 euros.
The CGT Geodis Calberson therefore demands that the NAOs scheduled for January 2023 be brought forward and is calling for a general pay rise of 150 euros, plus 100 euros for low wages and a 1,000-euro bonus for December. Otherwise, with inflation, our standard of living will worsen further!
Logistics today brings together a quarter of the workers in France. We are the ones who keep goods moving, on which contemporary economies depend. We are among the "essential" workers who worked hard throughout the health crisis.
