Welcome to Arthur's solidarity fundraiser!
Here is our story in a few words…
On December 22, we had an appointment for an ultrasound of Arthur's back. For several weeks a lump had appeared and we didn't know what it could be... That day, our world fell apart: Arthur was diagnosed with a neuroblastoma located above his kidneys; it extends into his spinal column and wraps around his spinal cord. Long weeks of care then began: chemo, treatments at home, trips back and forth to the hospital after 10 days of hospitalization, a scintigraphy, two ultrasounds, a PET scan, surgery to place a port-a-cath, two punctures and a biopsy...
As Arthur is only 4 months old, we hadn't yet taken out hospital insurance for him, so we don't know what to expect regarding these costs. I had to stop working to be able to stay home with him since he cannot start at the childminder; we must keep him away from all germs. A very complicated period in the life of such a small baby. Even though we are fortunate in 2023 to be in Belgium with regard to health insurance and the possible care for our little one, this new daily life is nonetheless financially very difficult for our family.
