"Sadaqah jâriyah (the ongoing charity) is like building a masjid in which the Muslims pray, or building a house for the poor so they may live in it, or publishing a book from which Muslims will benefit, or donating land whose harvest will be given to the poor — that is sadaqah jâriyah.

As for beneficial knowledge such that a person teaches others what Allah taught them, whether it is general teaching given in masjids to the general public or specific teaching intended for students of knowledge, if people benefit from that knowledge after their death, the reward will continue to be attributed to them.

And in this hadith authentically reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):

"When a person dies, their deeds cease except for three: a sadaqah jâriyah, or knowledge by which people benefit, or a righteous child who prays for them."
