Fund to support activists facing repression and imprisonment in antispeciesist investigations in French-speaking Switzerland
Since last December, several people have been subjected to repression through an investigation into direct antispeciesist actions that took place in Switzerland in 2018 (poster ripping, the sabotage of a slaughterhouse in Perly, stoning of speciesist shops, Geneva butcheries and Fribourg institutions linked to vivisection). Among them, Mirabelle, who spent 33 days in pre-trial detention between December 12 and January 7, and Matthias, who has been imprisoned since December 1 in Champ-Dollon prison.
Today I am calling for your financial solidarity in order to help cover the defence of these activists. They are mostly defended by court-appointed lawyers, but not all of them (and one hour of work for a lawyer equals about 300–450 CHF), police custody costs (48H) will also be on the order of several hundred francs, travel expenses to hearings, food (about 120 CHF per month) for Matthias because he is not provided with a balanced vegan diet and therefore must buy some dried fruit and nuts himself to "supplement" his meals each week, expenses such as telephone calls, television (the prison charging him 18.- per month even if he does not watch it), stamps, envelopes, etc.
I also wish to be able to bring him books and CDs that bring him great comfort.
