Once again, a woman who was a victim of domestic violence is sent back behind bars, far from her children, for having tried to defend herself from her partner, for having taken seriously the death threats of the man who, at 19, had already shot a man, and who became enraged whenever he had been drinking.
Alexandra defended herself against the death threats of her partner who had been beating and raping her for years. That day, terrified by the look of Sébastien Gest, uncontrollable when he had been drinking, she took her balle-trappe shotgun, a shooting discipline in which she was a novice. She only wanted to dissuade him from killing her. She didn't even close the shotgun! It was he who, by grabbing the barrel, closed it at the same time, mechanically. And the shot went off. This account's plausibility was confirmed by ballistic experts.
She was sentenced to 10 years in prison, on October 23, 2021, at the end of her appeal trial, for intentional homicide.
Her youngest, Jessy, 6, only sees his mother one hour a week in a visiting room, like her two other daughters, Abigaelle and Enola, 16 and 19, and that has already been the case for two years.
Once again, this “justice” is inhuman:
Alexandra was abused during this trial, her testimony denied. She laid herself bare before an entire court to describe all the violence she had endured: the rapes, the beatings, the death threats aimed at her or her children, for three years. And like a majority of women who are victims of violence, she was not believed. People spoke of "exaggeration." They minimized the dangerousness and violence of her partner in order to discredit the claim of self-defense.

All previous requests for release under judicial supervision were refused, while Alexandra Richard represents no danger to society, as psychiatric assessments attest. This is true judicial harassment.
Thanks to your first donations, we, the associations supporting Alexandra, were able to pay part of the fees for Alexandra's defense.
However, we are still missing a large part of the required amount.
Let's keep going to the end for Alexandra! She must be released and reunited with her children!

Des questions inédites seront posées telle la légitime défense des femmes victimes de violences conjugales (seules 3 femmes en France ont été acquittées pour légitime défense, dont Adriana Sampaio en 2020, défendue par les mêmes avocat-es qu’Alexandra aujourd’hui). Le combat d’Alexandra est celui de toutes les femmes !
C'est donc un nouvel espoir pour Alexandra Richard, car selon la décision de la Cour de Cassation, il pourrait y avoir une nouvelle audience et un nouveau jugement !
Une 7ème demande de remise en liberté, dans l'attente du pourvoi, sera par ailleurs examinée le 6 juillet prochain.
