Hope (creation during lockdown, in the style of Henri Matisse: the cut-outs)
Peyssonnel 2 elementary school, in REP+ in Marseille's 3rd arrondissement, is issuing an urgent appeal for sharing and solidarity: a beautiful way to stay connected during this moment of collective shock that forces us all into isolation.
In the 3rd arrondissement, more than half of residents ordinarily live below the poverty line.
From mid-March, the start of the lockdown led several families at our school, already in a fragile situation, into greater hardship: children of undocumented families, without the right to work and without social assistance; children of refugees seeking asylum, one of whom was recently evicted from their home; or families rehoused in hotels since the Rue d'Aubagne disaster.
The extension of the lockdown until May 11 further worsened their living conditions.
At the end of April, new families had exhausted their meagre monthly resources and had to choose between paying their rent or buying basic necessities.
That is why we wholeheartedly hope to be able to count on your donations, small or large, so that our students can be adequately fed. Like us teachers, despite school closures, we are trying remotely to continue to nourish their appetite for knowledge.
The donations already collected have allowed us, since the end of March, to help more than 60 children and their families meet their essential needs.

Keep liking and sharing this fundraiser as much as possible: a HUGE thank you !!!
