Since July, around thirty young people, unaccompanied minors, have been living at Kabako, in the Chartrons neighborhood of Bordeaux.
These young people are waiting to be recognized as minors by the juvenile court judge so they can be taken into care by the department.
Their wish: to be enrolled in school and learn a trade.
The problem: the department systematically leaves them out on the street as soon as they cannot produce identity papers.
While they wait for their papers to be brought, for them to be validated by the border police and for the judge to declare them minors (in about 80% of cases in Gironde), it can take from 6 months to a year. During this time, they are entitled to nothing. No housing, no state allowance. Nothing at all. These young people are between 14 and 17 years old and are therefore left on the street, vulnerable, often in a deplorable state of health.
We call on your solidarity to meet the most essential needs such as: food, hygiene products, underwear, school supplies, expenses related to their legal files, phone cards to contact their families...
