Save Aslam 🐴

Aslam's accident (Open fracture of the left hind metatarsal)

After several years in Morocco, I decided to return to France with Aslam.
During our transport to France, Aslam was seriously injured while getting off the truck in Casablanca (Morocco), at the first scheduled stop. His leg slipped and remained trapped between the truck and the bridge. The wound was extremely deep and particularly difficult to treat. In addition, there was a longitudinal fissure of the leg bone. In the first minutes following the accident, I believed I was going to lose my horse. Everyone was sceptical about his chances of recovery.
But Aslam himself seemed to have decided to fight.
On the day of the accident, he allowed himself to be stitched up without any sedative. Once again I realised how exceptional this horse was for his kindness, calm and intelligence.
The weeks and months that followed were punctuated by daily care. Healing was extremely long and difficult.
Despite everything, Aslam remained incredibly brave and calm in the face of the situation.
Today, even though the care is not finished, Aslam walks.

After several weeks, I found myself in an extremely difficult financial situation.
I had already spent nearly 5 000 € on care and I no longer had the means to finance his repatriation to France. The money for the Morocco/France transport had gone into treatments.
Blocked and finding no other solution, I made a difficult decision: sell my beautiful Aslam.
After several days of searching, I tried to find him a good owner I could trust. I knew this decision would be painful, but I thought he would be in good hands.
Only a few days after his sale, while the grief was still present, I received a call from the new owner. I went urgently to the place.
Aslam was locked in the dark and tied with sticks and ropes so that he could not touch his wound. He had lost a lot of weight in just a few days and would no longer let anyone approach him.
I did not recognise my horse.
And unfortunately, the condition of his leg had also significantly worsened.
I realised I could not leave him there.
After several days of tough discussions and negotiations, I bought him back.

Aslam is now housed in a trusted stable in Morocco, where he can receive attentive care and an environment adapted to his convalescence.
His condition has markedly improved and he continues to fight. But the care is not finished.
This fundraiser has a very simple goal:

Bring Aslam home.🇫🇷

I want to be able to continue to provide him with the care he needs and to continue his life with me, in a stable and adapted environment. After all he has been through, I simply want to offer him a peaceful life.

Aslam is not simply my horse.
He is an exceptional horse who has shared a huge part of my life and my equestrian journey.
He is not my tool for work. He is my life companion.
He made me the woman I am today. He gave me everything.
I cannot abandon him again. Today, it is my turn to do everything for him. I am not asking to finance a dream or a comfort project.

I am simply asking for a bit of help to bring him back from Morocco to his home in France.

Every donation, whatever its amount, will bring us a little closer to this goal.

And if you cannot contribute financially, sharing this fundraiser can already help us enormously.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
Thank you for Aslam. ❤️
