Constant eviction alert for the Zad.
Now more than ever, we need your support to prepare for the eviction of the Zad du Carnet! Thank you again.
We have now been present on the Île du Carnet for more than 2 months to block the works and our settlement is advancing rapidly. Many cabins have been built and our self-management is progressing!
Since August 31, resistance against forced concrete development has taken root at the Carnet. Barricades have been raised to protect the Île du Carnet from the bulldozer devastation that had been planned.
This occupation of public space at the entrance to the Île du Carnet is the last resort to defend the reed beds and their inhabitants of all skins: scaled, furry or feathered. It is the whole Île du Carnet that needs us to defend it today.
But for the struggle to continue, we still need you!
The Zad du Carnet is a place of resistance, resilience and welcome for everyone who wishes to join!
Neither the announcement by the Grand Port de Nantes Saint-Nazaire of a one-year postponement of the works nor the lockdown undermine our determination to stay on site to establish the struggle locally and for the long term.
Winter is fast approaching and our material needs are significant: insulating the cabins, installing heaters in the cabins and building new places to welcome all the people wishing to live on site.
The threat continues and persists, notably with the helicopter and frequent gendarmerie patrols around the area.
We thank you for the first support fund for the Zad du Carnet which raised more than €2,500 and we call again for your help!
This money has been and will be used to make printouts, buy collective equipment that we are unable to retrieve and to fill the solidarity fund.
