Kukula Kids: 5 years of seeds sown, a future to build

Five years ago, in Chilumba in northern Malawi, a few children had a simple dream: to be able to attend school without fearing they might have to stop for lack of means.

This reality gave rise to the Kukula Kids project, run by the association Malawi Kukula asbl.

At first, Kukula Kids was a few sponsors, a lot of heart, and an essential mission: to cover school fees for several children and provide close follow-up of their progress. Year after year, these children grew up, persevered, and regained confidence.

And very quickly, one thing became clear.
They were not alone.

Around them, a whole village of children lacked spaces to learn differently, to read, to play, to express themselves and simply… to be children. Kukula Kids then followed its natural evolution: opening up to all the children of Chilumba, offering educational extracurricular activities accessible to as many as possible.

Today, after five years of commitment on the ground, the project is entering a decisive new phase.

A place to learn, play and grow

We want to build in Chilumba a building entirely dedicated to children.
A warm, lively place that will become:

- a free library and toy library,

- a space for educational and recreational activities on Saturdays and during school holidays,

- a place to organize extra lessons, to support children who are struggling at school.

This building will be much more than a simple physical space.
It will be a refuge, a landmark, a place of equal opportunities, where every child can learn at their own pace, develop curiosity, build confidence and dream of their future.

🧱 3 000 € – Offer a ground on which to lay the future

Purchasing the land is the starting point of everything.
It guarantees a stable, safe and lasting place: an anchor for generations of children.

🏠 11 500 € – Build a refuge to learn and flourish

These walls will host laughter, books, games, effort and success.
They will house the library, the toy library and the educational activities, open free of charge to all the village children.

☀️ 8 000 € – Bring light, even when the day falls

Thanks to solar panels, the building will be active all year round.
The light will allow children to study after school, to read, to concentrate and to learn, even where electricity is often missing.

🪑 4 000 € – Turn a building into a true living space

Tables, chairs, shelves…
It is the essential comfort to learn with dignity, read together, play, share and feel fully welcomed.

📚🎲 1 000 € – Light sparks in their eyes

Books to discover the world, games to learn differently.
For many children, these will be the first books held in their hands, the first educational games shared.
