We, the AEDs of Joséphine Baker High School, join the AEDs of Raymond Naves High School, on strike from Monday, January 26 through Friday, January 30. We will also be a majority mobilizing one or more days during the week.
Similarly, we denounce the 2026 national budget pushed through using Article 49.3, which provides for brutal budget cuts. For education, 4,000 teaching positions and 3,000 assistant education positions are being cut, representing about 6% of the national AED workforce. While the State keeps finding more money for the police and the military, education is facing ever more budget cuts.
We are also affected by the rise in school cafeteria prices at our establishment. In our case the increase is 16%, which we firmly denounce. Although we are not directly affected by staff reductions during maternity leaves as is the case at Raymond Naves or other establishments, we stand in solidarity with their demand to maintain staffing levels.
In short, our working conditions risk deteriorating, thereby impacting students and teachers. Our already low salaries allow us less and less to make ends meet, while many of us are part-time or students. Yet we are essential to the proper functioning of schools.
We demand:
The complete halt to cuts of teaching and AED positions and the withdrawal of the 2026 budget
Free school meals in the cafeteria
The maintenance of AED staffing levels during parental leave, in solidarity with our colleagues
We call on teachers, AEDs, AESH, staff of our establishment, but also those from Gisèle Halimi with whom we work daily, and beyond, to join us in this strike and mobilize alongside us. We also urge the unions to implement a collective response at the national level in response to the 2026 budget pushed through by force.
