In memory of Tarek Djaker - support for his family

In memory of Tarek Djaker

It is with immense sadness that we learned of the passing of our dear Tarek.
Tarek was much more than a friend, a comrade or a colleague. Those who had the chance to know him will remember his kindness, his sincerity, his smile, his sense of humour and the deep curiosity that drove him. He loved to understand things, go to the heart of matters, discuss, learn, pass on knowledge, but also laugh and enjoy the small moments of life.
Mathematics and science held a special place in his life. After studying applied mathematics, Tarek continued his path at Sorbonne Université in statistics and machine learning, while working in data science and research. His interest went far beyond the academic sphere: his publications and the topics he followed testified to a genuine fascination for mathematics, research and understanding the world.

He particularly admired Alexandre Grothendieck. On his own YouTube banner, Tarek had chosen this phrase:

"The only thing that matters is the pursuit of truth, not recognition nor honours."
- Alexandre Grothendieck

This quotation takes on a particular resonance today. It reflects something deeply present in Tarek: that sincere will to seek, to understand and to learn, not for appearances, but for the love of knowledge.

But behind his career and ambitions, above all it is the human being that we wish to honour today.

Tarek was a son, a friend, a brother of the heart to many. He still had so many projects, dreams, things to discover and to build. His departure leaves an immense void in the hearts of his family, his loved ones, his friends and all those who crossed his path.

We created this fund to support his family in this ordeal and to contribute to the various expenses related to his death and his funeral. All funds collected will be given to his family.

Behind Tarek, there is also a mother and a family with very modest means, who remained in their home country. Tarek was his mother’s only son. For her, he was not just a child: he represented a presence, a pride, a hope, a huge part of her life. Today, she must face the ordeal that no mother should have to know: losing her son.

His family is going through this pain with limited resources, far from many of those who knew and loved Tarek in France. To the immense grief of his passing are unfortunately added the material realities related to the death, the administrative procedures, the funeral and everything a family must suddenly take care of at a moment when they should simply be able to mourn.

That is also why we created this fund. We would like, at our level, to lift at least part of this burden from the shoulders of his loved ones. No amount of money can fill the absence of Tarek. But together, we can ensure that his family does not, on top of their pain, have to bear alone the financial weight of this ordeal.

Every euro given is a way to tell them: you are not alone. Tarek was loved here, he touched lives, and those who knew him wish today to be present for those he loved most.

There is no amount too small. Each contribution is above all a gesture of solidarity, affection and support for Tarek and his loved ones. If you cannot contribute financially, sharing this fund around you is already a precious help.
We also hope that this page can, in its own way, remain a tribute to the person Tarek was and to the mark he will leave on those who knew him.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all those who will contribute, share this fund, have a thought for him or offer a prayer on his behalf.

May Allah have mercy on him, forgive his sins, illuminate his grave, expand his abode and grant him Al-Firdaws. May Allah grant patience, strength and solace to his family and to all who love him.
Allah y rahmo.
إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

"Indeed, we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return."
