As part of the national social movement this September against the austerity policy of the Bayrou-Lecornu budget and in a political context deaf to citizens' demands and the expression of their will, it becomes more than necessary to establish a balance of power. With the normal channels of civic expression compromised, it is necessary to resort to measures that, while remaining peaceful, must be hardened. The aim is to move from a show of force (massive in pension demonstrations, for example, but ineffective) to an actual balance of power.

This fundraiser aims to support the inter-union strike on September 18 by Amazon employees who are prevented from mobilizing by the pressures they receive from their management and by the precariousness their employer exploits.

Why support such a movement?

There are three main reasons:

- The first is local: Amazon employees suffer from working conditions that are at once archaic and new. Their bodies are instruments worn down by the intelligent machine, by work rhythms and low pay that take advantage of the pauperization of employees, often temporary workers. Known for its inhumane management, it pays poorly those who nevertheless produce its wealth.

- The second is national: by targeting Amazon, one is concretely striking at one of the giants of globalized capitalism produced by the internet boom, the GAFAM. Amazon represents over €15 billion in revenue in France in 2024 yet does not pay its fair share of taxes. Known for its tax optimization practices, blocking Amazon is a way to fight tax injustice. Amazon is also one of the main culprits in the dismantling of local economic fabric, harming the human fabric, replacing small shops with large-scale distribution founded on an offshored production system and predation of nature. Finally, Amazon embodies the worst of emerging techno-feudalism, namely a monopolistic production system benefiting those who own the production algorithms, hiding behind “the algorithm” to be responsible for nothing.

- The third is symbolic: mobilization against Amazon France, which is already a success in Douai, can become a center of gravity for the struggle in Essonne in this particular context. Whether one is a citizen, nonpartisan, union member, student, worker or unemployed, retired or a high school student, this struggle has a deep meaning: fighting against the weight of a crushing system that imposes its law, and reclaiming our sovereignty.
