A severe fire broke out on Friday 16 December at 3:00 a.m. in Vaulx-en-Velin (Rhône), in the eastern suburb of Lyon, in a seven-storey building in the Mas du Taureau district.
The fire caused ten deaths, including five children, and 20 injured. The five children who died in the fire were aged 3 to 15.
The Grand Mosque of Vaulx-En-Velin launched an appeal for donations during Friday prayers; it collected on site 13 000€. It created a fundraiser on 20/12/2022 calling for solidarity with the victims' families.
