Dear worshippers and donors,
In 1993, the Muslims of Sarcelles acquired an initial premises to use as a prayer room, Alhamdulillah. Over the years, the purchase of adjoining premises made it possible to have a mosque.
Project
Today, an opportunity has arisen: the sale of a municipal plot (465 m2) for €234,000 at the front of the mosque. This acquisition will allow the AMFU association to build, on the existing mosque footprint and this new plot, a cultural and religious center in Sarcelles with a total area of 3832 m2 comprising:
- a main prayer hall on the ground floor for men (1500 worshippers)
- a prayer hall for women on the 1st floor (500 worshippers)
- 15 classrooms
- an underground parking of 907 m²
Why rebuild the mosque?
The current mosque is in an advanced state of disrepair and can no longer welcome worshippers and students under the best conditions. The new building will provide numerous adapted classrooms and spacious prayer rooms for both men and women. Moreover, a renovation or yet another extension would be as costly as rebuilding the mosque, hence the decision, after consultation with members, to start anew for a durable reconstruction for future generations.
Where do we stand?
At present, the administrative steps related to the acquisition have largely been completed:
- land boundary survey completed
- vote for the transfer of the land in the municipal council on 04 July 2023
- submission of the Building Permit (PC) on 18 July 2023
- issuance of the Building Permit (PC) on 16 February 2024
- acquisition of the land and signing of the notarial deed on 12 July 2024
- installation of prefabricated buildings to provide a temporary place of prayer during the works in November 2024
Alhamdulillah, after 7 months of processing, the Building Permit was issued on 16 February 2024 following favorable opinions from the various authorities (SDIS95, prefectural authorities, the Town Hall urban planning department, etc.).
How much will the project cost 💸 ?
The project is estimated at €4 million. The structural work (foundations, earthworks, walls, framework, roofs, joinery, etc.) represents about 50% of the total cost of the works, i.e. €2 million.
In parallel with the steps mentioned above, the mosque must raise funds to start the structural works currently estimated at €1.6 million. The total projected cost of the project will be refined after the company consultation phase currently underway.
🙏 By the grace of Allah the Almighty and thanks to the investment of generous donors, to date the mosque has €1,400,000, i.e. 70% of the amount needed to begin the structural works. (Updated 15 January 2025).
The goal is to raise the remaining €600,000 by the end of Ramadan in order to start the works in 2025. Aware that this is an ambitious goal, we solicit your generosity and sense of sharing to relay this link to all your contacts.
