http://www.facebook.com/muslimsolidarityONG is a humanitarian association that comes to the aid of the oppressed and the needy wherever they are.
Between 800,000 and 1.3 million Rohingya currently live in Rakhine State, in western Myanmar. A country where 80 to 90% of the 51 million inhabitants are Buddhist.
A 1982 law enacted by the military dictatorship rendered the Rohingya stateless. They were not recognized as part of the 135 ethnic groups listed in Myanmar.
Under pressure from Western countries and the UN, the Burmese government reluctantly accepted, at the end of 2014, the principle of an "action plan" consisting of allowing these residents without citizenship to apply for regularization.
Rohingya who wish to take this step are, however, forced to declare themselves as "Bengali" to the administration and therefore to acknowledge being illegal immigrants.
Thus more than 800,000 members of this Muslim minority in Burma have been unable to vote, as they are deprived of identity papers.
If we cannot change the world, we try with the help of Allah to change theirs.
